SERRA INSTALLS A NEW SALT PLANT IN GHANA

Serra has designed, manufactured and commissioned a new salt washing and refining line of 5 tons per hour in Ghana. The client was already producing artisanal salt in their own saltworks and decided to upgrade the quality by stablishing a state-of-the-art salt processing facility.

Always, our processing lines are specially designed to meet the customer demand based on their raw salt quality and the final product requirements. In this case, the raw salt is coming from their saltworks production with a quite good quality yet with high insoluble due to the manual harvesting. Thanks to our specially designed 3 stage washing system (washer cells, washer classifier and 2-stage pusher centrifuge) we are able to remove the soluble and insoluble to meet the human consumption requirements.

After that, the salt is crushed, dried in our fluid bed dryer-cooler and classified with a sieve screen in two products (table salt and coarse salt). Finally, the salt is packed in small bags for the retail market and in 25kg bags for the industry.

We would like to thank all the people involved in the commissioning of the salt plant.
